German Perfection

Reborn with a heart of a champion, the body of a model and the shoes of a gentlemen

After 3 long years, Mike Burroughs’ S54B32-swapped E36 is finally done.

Keep in mind, this isn’t some half-assed swap that is barely working.  The S54 is a completely stock USDM motor (aside from Fluid MotorUnion intake trumpets) running on the US-spec E46 M3 DME and wired as if BMW intended the engine to be in the E36.

In terms of engine transplant insanity, this is nothing special.

What sets this swap apart from most others is this: It was done right.

The body chosen for this swap was a 1993 BMW E36 325is.  The E36 still has to be one of my favorite BMW designs.  It retains that classic BMW box shape, but mixes in a bit of modern design and curves.  For the 90’s this was quite awesome.

As a  plus, Mike chose a Granitsilber E36 which is probably my all time favorite BMW color other than Technoviolet.  It’s a different shade of grey and attracts your eye but at the same time it doesn’t really bore you.

Hehe, Mike even retained the factory E46 instrument cluster.  Like I said earlier, this was done right.

The wheels chosen for this car were 17×8.5 and 17×10 OZ Mercedes AMG Aeros.  They are re-drilled from 5×112 to 5×120 and that fitment right now uses no spacers or adapters. Looks perfect.

BMW purists might balk at the thought of Mercedes wheels on a BMW, but this wasn’t built for the purists. This was built for Michael Burroughs from Franklin, TN by Michael Burroughs.

It’s taken a long time for this to become what it is now and I absolutely adore it.

Mike, if you ever read this, please come visit California sometime soon. 😀
