The car that proved that Mazda could.

20 years ago, Johnny Herbert crossed the finish line at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, proving to the racing world that Mazda and the Wankel Rotary was up to the challenge to tackle the greatest endurance classic in history.  To this day, Mazda is still the only Japanese manufacturer to win Le Mans and will most likely be the only car to win that wasn’t powered by pistons (due to the fact the FIA banned Wankels from further competition).
